What's your opinion on his works? I wanted to get into him but i'm not sure where to start
He's one of the goats. I'd start with As I Lay Dying

The prose is kind of hard, but all of his works are rewarding reads. I would start with a short story collection before getting in to his more popular novels to see what he's all about.

I stupidly choose to major in English literature and I took a class on Faulkner.
In the class we started with The Sound and The Fury and then we read Absalom Absalom Both are fucking amazing read The Sound and Fury first then read Absalom Absalom I think you are really going to enjoy it.
Faulkner is pretty good. If something doesn't make sense, keep reading and you should be able to clear things up. I read the sound and the fury before as I lay dying; I feel like that was the wrong order.
Don't make the same mistake that I did.

You started right off with the Sound and the Fury? That seems like an odd choice, but if it worked then I guess that's that.
I would probably start with As I Lay Dying OP. It gives an impression of faulkner at his artistic height and his experimental phase without being too difficult to comprehend.

English lit does seem like a meme class. Should I major in lit?
