Is this supposed to be hard to read?

I don't know if it's supposed to be, but it can be difficult in a first read, mainly because Woolf's syntax is quite dense.

Just read it slowly and calmly, and pay attention to detail but not so much that you end up losing yourself in the labyrinth that are her sentences.

I found it an upstream swim to read, yet at each turn the stream threw something fresh at me and this gave me strength to go on. When I have more time I'll try one of her other novels or maybe do a reread.
