Is he really THAT bad?

Stephanie Meyer is marginally better.

Pretty baaad.
He just appeals to adolescents and their egos, as well as their hopes and wishes.
He wrote about cancer creating his own fictional cancer.

He has GRIDS face.

someone post the looking for alaska blowjob chapter. yes he is THAT bad.
Its like a mixture between Big Bang scripts and "Imnotlikeeveryotherteen" teen diary. Absolutely nothing worth reading there unless you want to feel isolated from the world.

No, why?

This can't be real

I like him, but I'd never read his books. I watched some of his stuff online,
https://www.youtube.com/user/crashcourse
and he seems like a genuinely nice and enthusiastic person, but that doesn't mean his books are anything better than Nick Hornby type schlock.

I honestly don't know how it's possible to hate one man this much, but I do.
Seems like a decent, charismatic guy. Of course /lit/ shits on him, even though he's writing to a completely different demographic, and considering that given the genre he works in, he seems to be talented. It's not like the guy has pretensions of being the "great American author". Honestly, I'm more offended by hacks like Tao Lin than John Green. Green's fans may be insufferable, but then again, most fans are.

>YA literature has to be bad
The only good thing that I have found who's oriented to YA and is remotely good is pic related. Everything else is shit.
I'll never forget watching a video where John Greene is in a hotel room with five or six friends/fans who are all on iPads or iPhones and John says, "Man, David Foster Wallace would love the metaness of this environment. We're on our tablets in the same room but talking to each other. He would eat that up."
I was angry on so many levels. DFW would have been proud of my meta anger...
