-Lovecraft
-Deleuze & Guatarri
-William Gibson & any cyberpunk fiction
-Alvin Toffler
-maybe some Kabbalah & numerology
-gothic and weird and uncanny fiction
-some stuff to get a grasp of economics but don't limit yourself to Marxist readings
-read up on cybernetics
-get an understanding of where postmodernism and poststructuralism is coming from, but then get ready for a refutation of a lot of it
also, watch
-Terminator I & II
-Blade Runner
-lots of "dumb" mainstream movies
also, become familiar with:
-jungle & drum n bass, including techstep and neurofunk stuff for some insight into the writing aesthetics
-detroit techno
-rave hardcore: breakbeat hardcore, bouncy, Belgian, gabber
-pop music
-idm
-acid house
-rave culture in general

also, I might add that looking at this, it's definitely far ahead of where a lot of postmodern intellectuals are still at even today, but at the same time, it's definitely a snapshot of the 90s and rave culture and its influence, which I think is important and something to take into account and integrate (some of these moves - away from postmodernism, for instance - are still very crucial), but keep in mind things have developed even further on the cutting edge since then. hell, Nick Land became a hardcore reactionary.

adding a handful of things I should have mentioned:
-probably some Philip K. Dick
-dub music
-hip hop & sampling
-William S. Burroughs, especially cut-up technique
-a loose notion of demonology and Animism
-media theory
-industrial music
-ecstasy (the drug), and take meth into account in Land's case
