There are 2 ways in which "suffering" (in quotes, because its such a massive word) can be "good":

In the sense of, I have heard those cases of overly sheltered children, who use anti bacterial hand cream 30 times a day, and went outside to play (roll in the grass, splash in the rain), who then because building up no tolerance can become sick quite simply (in generally, this idea of building tolerance...(which in essence, is my second point as well) the same idea as going to the gym, or those who would consider it insufferable to eat healthy and exercise, in essence, there are things that may be good for us, with which we resist, to do things we do not like or want to do that are actually good for us, I suppose could fit somewhere in that large word, 'suffering').

Then, there is, as I say I have realized it being the same concept, if our souls go on after death, and we are introduced to a harsher world, our life of luxurious comforts have not prepared us for. Consider a lowly animal born as a lowly animal, a life of toil in the mud, with the frightening fears of the predacious night. Though certainly I would ask no one to wager, to cast off their jewels, and precious soaps, fine wine and dining to live the life of a warrior monk, incase in the next 10 lives they may be, born as a beetle-rat on some hellacious gassy giant.

So really it seems the conclusion is, I am not sure. Get what you can, if you want. Be prepared. Seek the best, be prepared for the worst.
