I feel bad for you if you read Steinback aside from mandatory school reading.
Mein Goethe, I just read this one, and it is amazing. It is at the same time profound and tender. Made me want to read more Steinbeck.

Sweet Thursday is certainly worth it if you liked Cannery Row. Same characters, but set in a later time, the Chinese shop is now owned by a Hispanic called Jesus Maria.
