When you read do you say the words to yourself or am I the only one?

What the fuck do you mean? Explain your thoughts, holy shit
I read out loud. Usually I do it into a pillow so I don't wake people up at night.

I'd say I have a conversation with myself I say every word in my head at the pace in which I speak. I read slower, but I remember a lot.

bizarre

That's called subvocalizing, it's s sign of a pleb that hasn't read enough

No. Never have. Just about everyone i know does though, its always annoyed the shit out of me. I just cant understand it, why do you need to say the words?

I always hear the words in my head, is that subvocalizing?

It's weird, I can't describe.
I don't 'say' the words to myself, but I don't 'not say' them either. I tried reading a book once whilst 'subvocalizing', and it just felt like skimming for the most part. I absorbed very little.
I definitely imagine some sort of voice, or maybe just the 'idea' of a voice, when I read. It's not total silence, merely looking at words, but it's pretty close. Like a murmur in my mind.
Anyone know this feel?

If you 're talking about subvocalization everyone does it to a certain degree, it's just a matter of how fast/ and which words they subvocalize.

ultimately fine

This means that you're retarded
Subvocalizing is perfectly fine but if you read out loud you have some big problems.

Except for poetry of course, it's meant to be read out loud.
