know though that nietzche was insane (I mean in a sad way, not in a cool way). His books are fun to read and maybe he should have been writing novels instead, but his ability to reason is pretty weak, it may be because of his illness or any other reason idk but don't take this man seriously. Nazis loved his work exactly for this reason, because it is poetic but vague and irational so that it can be easily interpreted in the way they needed it and is attractive enough to be read.

I think the thing is, people read ww2 as an impasse at which people had to decide between american democracy and nazism; when they accept that reading, they wonder how they'd have chosen and aren't sure they'd have chosen FDR.
