A nihilist would view egoism as futile and stupid

I won't say "hurr just believe nothing and don't read anything because it doesn't matter" kind of thing.

But it's a weird phrasing to be using with nihilism. "Where to start with" it, as if nihilism was a conscious project, some development that you can catch up. If you want to know of quantum physics, first learn about Einstein and before him Newton. If you want to learn about communism, start with Marx, and psychanalysis with Freud, even if they built on predecessors, they mark the beggining of a certain endeavour. But with something like nihilism?

Nihilism is sometimes hated by nihilists themselves. It is simultaneously a way to view the world, an unease neurotic stance, something that may appear in someone's work in spite of oneself, or something that is deliberately called for and talked about directly. There is no start, middle or end to it.
