Wtf is gojng on in thjs book
It basically throws a really confusing first chapter at you and then circles back and forth and explains everything. At the end of the book you will understand what went down with Sutpen and my boy Henry.

best Faulkner. Remember that first something like the first three pages encompass the entire "story" but Faulkner uses each of the different chapters/sections to excavate a new wrinkle or piece of information. Some of events are talked about from more than one perspective, and there's no true "objective" account of Thomas Sutpen's life, considering that even the main narrator Quentin is naturally inclined to romanticize and defend the Old South, as evidenced by the last few pages.
Definitely one of my favorite books.

Quentin doesn't defend the South, in face he's crushed by the weight of his ancestors. Quentin's and Shreve's part diverted from fact because they were too invested in the story as a story and romanticized the relationship between Bon and Henry. I agree though, it's probably one of my favorite novels of all time.
Everything will become clear like 75% thru the book.
I didn't know the word octoroon until I read this.
