Why do Americans have such a cult of success that there is a whole genre of books devoted to become rich and/or a celebrity? Why not just take satisfaction in your own work and a live a good life by your own estimation?

SpaceX relies on government contracts for revenue. A lot of their funding comes from private sources but some is government stimulus.

Musk is largely a front man though and he gets to pretend to be important when he would have been a NASA engineer if the government didn't want to privatize space flight. Yes, I am jealous but that doesn't mean I'm wrong.
