Hardbacks look nice and last longer
Paperbacks are cheaper and easier to carry and hold
Some people also prefer ebooks and will let you know about it

Flexible e-ink.
I prefer the cheaper feel of paperback paper, but I like having a hard cover. If I have a hardcover and a paperback of the same book, I'll just rip out the pages and swap them. That way when I'm done I can release all the pages into the wind.
I really hate the jackets on hardcovers, and I'm poor, so paperback

Hardcovers. I always take the dust jacket off before reading, then put the book down after 2 pages and shitpost here because my computer is 2 feet away from my book cabinet.
