Lengthy and extremely laborious to read. Did not finish.

A hugely important book that almost nobody that mentions it has actually read.
Smith is usually painted as believing the opposite of what he actually said. Its a very strange thing.
Without being too "start with the Greeks", he was kind of hoping you came to it after reading "The theory of moral sentiments" which is supposed to frame it and discourage misreadings.
Is this book patrician tire guys?

>The theory of moral sentiments
egoism is gud
>The wealth of nations
economies should be egoistic

this is usually a reliable indicator that either you or the rest of the world is being played, not so strange
He's ok if you like anti-nationalist, pro-globalist economics. He is the quintessential liberal. If you are a Trumpet looking to reorient yourself to an economic attitude which is more amenable to his recent appointees, then sure, read Smith. It will make arguing free trade, supply side theory, and corporate welfare much easier for the next four years.
For those who wish to remain nationalists, I suggest reading some nationalists, may I suggest...
1) German Historical School
Friedrich List, Bruno Hildebrand, Gustave von Schmoller, etc.
2) American System
Alexander Hamilton, Henry Charles Carey
Not Keynesian. Not Austrian. Not liberalism.
