A few times I have purchased a book he has review only because he makes them sound interesting (i.e. basically just hype). Not because of academic-level analysis.

I think he's got the format down-pat, he just needs to focus on getting his content to the level it should be. Mind you, watch his old videos and see how much he's improved in that respect. I like him, but I feel like a lot of what he's reading is lost on him, or it's just difficult for him to convey his thoughts in a very sincere way.

His videos are comfy though, and he does encourage me to read more.

I don't like Cliff as much as the next anon, but the likelihood of /lit/ being any better or less gay is doubtful. If you're expecting an academic level analysis from booktubers, who typically make quick videos that are to be watched as recommendations and not dissertations, kill yourself. I watch him for the same reason I come to /lit/: recommendations of books I otherwise would never have heard of.
