How can you tell without reading it?

I usually start reading and it will start referencing points in the book. So, I do always read it somewhat. I should have rephrased

Depends. I usually read a little of the foreword to get an idea of what kind of a foreword it's going to be, but I often end up leaving it and reading it afterwards.
