Do you know some good crime novel books similar to Max Payne?
For Those Who Do not Know the game (!!!) I would want few good novel with Cops, men or women, who are tormented by demons of the past, in constant struggle against a tragedy and a violent future.
I really enjoyed "The Business of Dying" by Simon Kernick but I don't know any title.

The Harry Bosch books by Michael Connelly are excellent, as are George Pelecanos's books.
Both of these series have everything you could want in crime fiction. Tough, good storytelling.
For a taste of Bosch/Connelly, try Trunk Music.
For a taste of Pelecanos, try Right as Rain, the first in his excellent trilogy of Derek Strange/Terry Quinn books.
Friends of Eddie Coyle is great.
