never read Barf before, but this is his only book that really intrigues me. How's it stand up?

sot weed factor is great, highly recommended if you liked don quixote and or mason&dixon
he is a good writer he just, to me, has very little long-term appeal. his novels are too long, i agree, and his ideas are too precise, too cold and unmoving, he pulls off the typical postmodernist wankery without a hint of postmodernism' life or danger, no new sincerity preaching
it's just really hyperspecifci literary experiments played out like a self aware comedy of stuffy professor humor
the guy is like a borges without any of the brevity, meets ned flanders
I don't understand how this guy found time to be a novelist, a critic, and a theologian all at once
