I adored vonnegut in high school and have since moved on to better writers but I still enjoy many of his books. Part of that is probably nostalgia, but I think a huge reason /lit/ hates him so much is just because reddit likes him. I'm not arguing he is an amazing writer that should be in the canon but most of this backlash is unnecessary, he was a cool guy that wrote entertaining stories that didn't take themselves too seriously.

And this hardly worth replying to. I'm sure Vonnegut was smarter than his books would lead someone to believe. Pretty sure he just wrote them for fun. Pynchon is literature.
