I summarize chapter by chapter, then add my thoughts. Supporting quotes, too, if I'm going all out.

Some people here want to be writers, anon.

I usually write on the books with a marker pen, and if a page contains particularly useful or interesting information, I tear it off the book and glue it on my working notebook.

It's complicated when two consecutive odd-even pages contain useful information, which is why I always buy two copies of any book.

If I forget a key factor to the story, I can always just look it up in my notes. Plus, you memorize stuff better if you write it down.
