I study german (am german) and the job market seems pretty good. I imagine it's not that different in english speaking countries, despite, or even supported by the heavy STEM propaganda. If you're genuinely interested in it (which I would assume if you're on this board) and somewhat talented, finding work shouldn't be a problem. It's surprising how many fields need linguistics. One example is programming.
