ITT: goodreads rage. pic extremely related.
has anyone got the 1 star review of faust with all of the bad tumblr gifs in it
>>8767024
not really rage but more of a "wut?" sometimes people say correct things with wrong words/in a wrong way
>>8767028
I've noticed there never has been a 'actually good goodreads reviews' thread because people here are too negative
>>8767056
You really won't find any. The most /lit/ guy on there is a Thom Yorke lookalike that posts "witty" put-downs on the sites of every play by Shakespeare.
>>8767056
There have been a few but it does not get many good posts. most are subjective and long winded. if you find one it gives you less joy than spotting the retard who rated machiavelli 1 star because he said fortune is a woman that must be beaten

Ob my fucking God. It's a thread on 4Chan. Why the fuck do you people have to come in here with your psychoanalytic circlejerk. Nobody is impressed that you can bitch about how others entertain themselves and it doesn't somehow make you superior to the Op.

lmao, my mom has a bunch of kinfolk magazines which she never reads, she just likes them on her tables.
>>8767048
What's wrong with this, exactly?
Because, you know, a pudgy guy with acne getting all the bikini armor bitches is a lot closer to teenage wish fulfillment than a buff guy doing it, if you really think about it.

I'm unfamiliar with the Kinfolk stuff, but that sounds like it could be a valid review.
>>8771426
Manny is more patrician than you'll ever be.
>>8771454
No there's no valid review to give something 1 stars cause it isn't as "playful" and "fun" and actually designer worthy material. As someone who's read through them there's nothing wrong with them, they have great material for people who are into that kind of stuff.
It's just another goodreads goon who felt offended by their mediocrity being tramped upon by seeing these "superior" people live out their hip designer lives.

Reading any reviews of McCarthy is going to turn up this shit. People are all just parroting that one essay on the subject.

>>8771207
really makes you think
>>8771405
It really triggers me when people say "as per usual," especially in cases like this when the person is already affecting a contrarian know-it-all attitude. This whole review has left me really wanting to punch Derek's teeth down his throat. I'm going to go lie in bed and seethe for a bit before I fall asleep.
>>8767073
>most are subjective
Well, yeah.
>fortune is a woman that must be beaten
In fairness, the line comes out of absolutely nowhere. It reads like Machiavelli's wife spilled hot soup on him earlier that specific day or something.

I hate the word genteel. It's literally a word with an extra chromosome.
Alright /lit/, here's something strange I found.
I was looking for this old, out-of-print French book called Special Friendships by Roger Peyrefitte about two gayfags in a Catholic school in the 20s, and I started noticing that I saw this guy had posted the same review about the book on Amazon and goodreads and just about anywhere you could post a fucking review on the book, so I checked his goodreads profile out.

Strangely it had high ratings and a number of reviews, as well as apparently being reviewed by the Daily Mail and London Review of Books and shit? according to the books Amazon page - even though it pretty obviously to me just seems like a vehicle for the author's pederastic fantasies and a sloppy fanfiction of the Peyreffite book (the protagonists even have the same name, for fugs sake). A few reviews on goodreads called him out on this but most of them are hugely positive.
