Frenchfag here.
Even though I'm acquainted pretty well with Anglo-Saxon literature, I just discovered James Patterson's existence.
What is /lit/'s certified seal on this guy? Worth reading? Bad writer?
And if I only had time to read one of his books, which one would be the best to read?
Thanks /lit/-friends!

He is /lit/ certified, but you often don't hear about him on here because uncontroversially good.
He wrote that one shockingly mediocre YA series, and if the rest are even anywhere close to that level enjoy having him getting shat on by /lit/

He's one of the most important English language novelists of our time; his insights into legal philosophy occasionally surpass Kafka's. Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports is widely considered his opus, but that might be too heady for a novice. Start with his Alex Cross series, maybe Along Came a Spider.

Probably below even Stephen King, and I say this as someone who hasn't read anything from either of them.

He is so good, and so prolific (10-12 novels each year), that he's bursting the bookshelves of every thrift store from coast to coast
