On July I read The Sound of Waves. Literally a romantic slice of life anime, but that's exactly what I liked about it.

I read the Temple of the Golden Pavilion and Confessions of a Mask earlier this year. I have a few more of his books that are in my backlog that I want to get to.

Skip Mishima and get into Oe instead.

Rereading Runaway Horses atm.

I live in Japan and read Japanese to an extent. "Sailor" is a minor work that is little read in Japan and much more read in the west I think. I've always wondered what contributes to its much broader appeal abroad.

Oh, more or less the same as what is read abroad. "Confessions"..."Golden Pavillion"... It's all more or less the same just that I've noticed western readers of Mishima have all read "Sailor" and put it up there with those.
