He realises there is nothing inherently good or bad about existence, it's cold and neutral. He just explains why it's shitty for us.

Optimism and pessimism are ultimately arbitrary value judgements without any more foundation than any other opinion.

other than that i would just look at wiki/iep/stanford.plato entries on scepticism and quietism and go from there
