His final novel, Abaddon el exterminador, is even more fucked up. In one scene near the end, some cops torture one of the main characters because he knew someone who knew Che Guevara. There is also a sense of impeding doom and heavy darkness permeating the book. Totally recommend it, though you should read his previous novel, On Heroes and Tombs. Along with The Tunnel, they form his Trilogy on the Abysm of the Human Condition.

Is it bad that this book made me uncomfortable as fuck. I mean it shouldn't for what it is but I saw so much of myself in him and I think it's one of the few books that has actually changed me, extending my bitter and antisocial mindset.
