100 Years of Solitude.
The latin american magical realists were much more into loli fucking than Nabokov himself. Even the women - The House of the Spirits, written by a woman (though really, so inspired it 100 Years of Solitude it feels like plagiarism) has a loli spying on some guy practicing necrophilia on her sister's fresh corpse at the end of the FIRST chapter.

Does anyone know any books that have the same sense of incredibly vague supernatural fantasy as some manga and anime? Stuff like Kotonoba Drive, Mu Shi Shi, Pun Pun, Makoto Shinkai works, Ghibli stuff, etc etc. Kotonoba, Pun Pun, and Shinkai stuff like Five Centimeters Per Second and The Place Promised in Our Early Days are the best examples in my opinion.
The supernatural/fantasy is more obvious in some of these, but that's not quiet right and its hard to explain. I've felt it myself but never really seen it expressed in literature, mostly only in anime/manga.
Its sort of a vague existential feeling, where the world is normal and you know it is, but you have the most tiny feeling there's something more, something you can't quiet articulate, like a second layer to the world. It seems to be mixed with melancholy a lot. Not outright supernatural but out of the ordinary. Its like a fog over your reality or something.
Does anyone get what I'm saying or do I sound retarded?

'The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch - Philip K. Dick
>>8747402
Ubik by Phillip. K Dick comes to mind, not fantasy but scifi. Most stuff by Tim Winton is pretty trippy. deals more with perceptions of the world by characters being strange, off or a bit supernatural. prob not what your really looking for but worth putting it out there.

>Its sort of a vague existential feeling, where the world is normal and you know it is, but you have the most tiny feeling there's something more, something you can't quiet articulate, like a second layer to the world.
The term you're looking for is "magical realism".
I'd recommend you... lessee... Asturias' banana trilogy (Strong Wind, The Green Pope and The Eyes of the Interred), for example. Or Mulata, that shit is full-on Kaiba.
Though of course, as we're talking weeabooisms and magical realism, Murakami is your guy. My favorite work of his is 1Q84. Ignore Norwegian Wood.
>>8747445
Ubik seems like it might hit the mark. Wilton's stuff doesn't seem right from descriptions, but I've never read Aussie literature so I might check it out anyways. Thanks.
>>8747463
>"magical realism"
Never heard of it. Nice to know its actually a thing and I'm not entirely a fucking loon. I'll definitely look into it.
I'll check out Asturias. Never heard of him but if you say it matches, I'll read it.
>that shit is full-on Kaiba
What do you mean by this?
I've heard of Murakami. Never read of him but his stuff seems interesting. never thought it would be the odd magical type thingy. Thanks for your help.
Thanks a lot to both of you.
>>8747506
>Never heard of [magical realism]. Nice to know its actually a thing and I'm not entirely a fucking loon. I'll definitely look into it.
It was a whole literary movement in Latin America for decades. Most of the spic lit Nobel prizes (including Asturias) are writers of this category.
The most famous one in this genre might be 100 Years of Solitude, but it's long and hard to read. Asturias' banana trilogy is much easier.
>>that shit is full-on Kaiba
>What do you mean by this?
Have you watched Kaiba? Yuasa Masaaki's?
They're both very colorful and semi-surrealist. Though they're both bad recommendations for beginners, now that I think about it. If you're a beginner animu watcher, Kaiba would be really hard to follow, and so would be Mulata if you're a beginner literature reader.
>I've heard of Murakami. Never read of him but his stuff seems interesting
Bernard had a full episode dedicated to him a couple of weeks ago. But yeah, his shit is full of the odd magical type thingy, except Norwegian Wood.
>>8747523
>It was a whole literary movement in Latin America for decades.
Cool. I'll look into these. See if maybe I can learn something. I'd love to be able to express this feeling better.
>Have you watched Kaiba? Yuasa Masaaki's?
Nope, never seen it. Not a beginner anime watcher/reader either. I've been watching anime, reading literature and mange for all for my life, at different stages. Still, I'd say I'm pretty preliminary in all three for the most part.
>Bernard had a full episode dedicated to him a couple of weeks ago. But yeah, his shit is full of the odd magical type thingy, except Norwegian Wood.
Awesome. I'll look into it.
This is pretty exciting.

I read just about that whole fucking thing. That's intense, and while the guy was clearly tipping his fedora hard as fuck, triggered as fuck, as well as overreacting as fuck, I kind of feel bad for him. Vore is his fetish, it clearly means A LOT to him, and he thought that maybe it would be safe to bring it up. He might not have ever brought it up with anyone else except specific people on, I don't know, vore forums or vore chatrooms or something. Someone said he doesn't deserve TO GO TO literature (meaning /lit/ I assume, not that he doesn't deserve to read), which he mistakes for not being allowed to read which is clearly another thing that he is VERY passionate about, so he loses his shit. He took a chance in a place that he thought was safe, and of course 4Chan was 4Chan, he was ridiculed, which you have to be prepared for, and he was not.
Even typing this, almost defending the guy, I'm probably going to be told I'm autistic and people will be telling me to kill myself, but I'm fine with that. It's typical. It's the norm. As he says; it has no meaning anymore. Anyways, he was acting cringey as fuck, acting superior to others, asking for, basically, an argument. A reaction. Something he can try to verbally rip apart through a response to make himself feel justified in his rather demented fetish. It also seems like he wants to be the 'receiver' rather than the 'giver' of vore. He talked about returning to somewhere safe inside someone, like a womb, except in this case it's a stomach, so in that picture he provided he probably prefers to imagine himself as the one being eaten which makes it all the more embarrassing for him to be mocked for it.
The guy's a clown, undoubtedly, and if I were there I'd be laughing as well, but there's a part of my that feels bad for the fellow. Best for him to keep his fetish in designated chatrooms and forums (if those exist) it would seem. Also best for him not to lurk anymore unless he thickens his skin, because wow, PARAGRAPHS upon PARAGRAPHS for one SINGLE sentence, and he didn't even read the sentence right. The guy said he shouldn't go to /lit/ essentially, not that he shouldn't be allowed to read. A series of unfortunate events that lead to an hilarious outcome.
>>8761008
clearly it was satire senpai
>>8761008
Yeah, that was kind of sad but funny and cringey at the same time. Even though the talk about vore being a symbol to the desire to return to an intra-uterine state made sense. the image — and the whole fetish — is still fucked up. Also it is kind of paradoxical his trying to show some kind of superiority and mental strength but at the same time telling us his fetish is a symbol to such a desire. He was really disturbed by that post.
>>8761046
I dunno, it seemed genuine. If it WAS satire, then in spite of how poorly it was written grammatically, it was otherwise very well and convincingly written.
>>8761092
Yup, there was an awful lot going on there. People can't really help what they're into. I'm just glad that 'I' didn't get stuck with a vore fetish. About the most fucked up fetish I have is probably somnophilia, or however it's spelt. Sleep fetish, whether it's giving or receiving. A gf woke me up with a handjob one morning, and good God, it was hot as fuck, I was an animal when I finally woke up. Aroused as fuck.
