>Reading Baudrillard got me to stop watching porn

Wow, that's odd. By NOT reading Baudrillard, I still watch porn.

Gay porn, that is. I'm a gay man.
>>
>>8743991
bloody poofters, you ruined the mainstream perception of poetry

>caring about the perception of an art form in mainstream culture

The mainstream corrupts and degrades everything it can get its hands on. Better to remain underground in a tight-knit community of enthusiasts.
>>
>>8743991
fuck you, Foucault

When I first started browsing /lit/ in 2013 it introduced me to a whole new world of serious literature that I had not the slightest inkling existed. It started me down the path of becoming a more serious reader and for that I am thankful
>>
It helped me get over my need for validation in what I like, because no matter what it is there will always be some thread calling it out as pure trash. Things like that used to genuinely affect me, I had problems keeping the opinions of others out of my head when reading or consuming other media. Instead of fighting against it and retreating to a more friendly place I jumped in and tried to work out what made me so uncomfortable. 4chan is shit but I think the hostile culture is very useful in this regard.
>>
/lit/ ruined my life.

Instead of studying algorithms and programming projects that could get me a good job, I read ancient Greek literature and shitpost about Nietzsche. I alienated most of my friends with obscure references. I'm depressed and unfulfilled and everything I write is pretentious garbage. I've been on the board regularly for about three or four years. Before that I was on /mu/ and /fa/ which were fine for fitting in with the hipster crowd, but there's nobody I know whose interests cross over with /lit/ even philosophy grad students, because they are generally more interested in specifics than seeming intellectual.

Fuck you, /lit/.
>>
>>8745839
kys you haven't read Nietzsche and only know of the Greeks through translations. Of course you'd write pretentious garbage.
>>
>>8745839
This was brought upon your shitposting. You should have known it.
>>
>>8745842
You know ancient Greek?
I can barely translate high-school latin. Ancient greek sounds and looks impossibly difficult.
>>
I laugh more than I used to.
>>
>>8745876
Greek and German combo makes it easier; like having a Latin and French focus. /lit/'s obsession with the Russians could be explained by German-Greek making Russian easier to learn but none of these cunts seem to bother with the first one. Greek has a lot of upfront rote learning compared with Latin (where now some readers don't even teach you all the cases). It also has a lot more compounds and the various dialects have pretty easy phonetic shifts which makes reading between dialects like reading French after learning Latin as an English speaker in difficult, rather than the difficulty of say Portuguese or Italian phonetic changes from Latin when all you have is Latin and English.
desu if you start with the Greeks for philosophy instead of literature, learning Greek and then German and then Russian will make you more fluent in /lit/'s mental disorders than /lit/ itself.

Boring

>>8745839
has nothing to do with /lit/ or anything/anyone else but you. don't blame the internet for your shortcomings.
>>
>>8745842
I read Nietzsche long before I came to /lit/.

Translations not being acceptable is a meme, although my Greek is improving and I may not need them for much longer.
you're a tripfag (and not one of the better ones) so you are obviously much further gone than I. I suggest seeking professional help.
>>8745868
I didn't start out shitposting. That is also a symptom.

Go full Diongenes mode. Live in a barrel, publicly mock people and put on displays of bad taste in the name of snark. You will ascend to patriciandom upon death.
