How much?

For $12 at a local library book sale at I picked up:
The Dharma Bums
The Hawkline Monster
The Dream of the Celt
The Executioner's Song
The Last of the Wine
and Middle C

I also manage to grab Mason and Dixon for $4 and Against the Day for $5 earlier in the year.

I don't understand why anyone would pay more in chain stores or online for the luxury of not having to scrub off sticker glue with nail polish remover.
>>
>>8739721
Read Middle C it's really good and then I read every fiction book that Gass published. Before hearing about Middle C I tried reading The Tunnel once or twice and wasn't ready for it. When you're done with Middle C read The Tunnel and get comfy as fuck.

But my Polish is really bad: I only speak it with my mom, haven't read or written in it in ages, and don't know enough Polish literature to feel inclined to brush up on my grammar and rebuild my vocabulary. Is it worth it? I'm very comfortable speaking it, although only with very limited subject matter, and with fairly frequent grammatical errors.

Any recommendations for authors, especially easy books I could use to get back in the swing of reading Polish?

I've read Gilgamesh a few times, but never owned a physical copy.

I recently read Tennyson's Idylls of the King and am currently reading Steinbeck's version of the King Arthur Tales, so I had to grab Malory.

Milton, Orlando Furioso, and Goethe's Faust will fill in some serious gaps in my reading.

I read A Theft by Saul Bellow after hearing great things about him from many people. I was really disappointed with it, but wanted to give another go and Humboldt'd Gift seems to have a reputation as one of his best.

Not pictured: Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, which I've read but lost a long time ago and now I'm going to be teaching it; some shit book Reputations by Juan Gabriel Vásquez that I got for free for spending over $25 and will gice away to someone.

Grand total: $36.72

I have one too. Children's books don't really work that well on e-devices, in my experience.

Anyone read The Adolescent?

Apparently its considered a 'failure' of Dostoevsky and not worth reading.

I have a copy of that in Slovenian. I can't read Slovenian.

Figure this thread would be most relevant, so posting here instead of starting a new one.

I was gifted a $50 Barnes & Noble giftcard for my birthday. However, books at B&N are generally way overpriced. Was wondering if anyone had recommendations on the most cost-efficient things to get there.

Thought I would check out a small local charity shop. Amongst the piles of fad books I actually found a small section of stuff /lit/ has meme'd into my brain. Pretty much cleared It out.

I know I just got stuff everyone has heard of but honestly the gaps in my basic reading are so big I gotta get some of this under my belt at some point.

I fell for the translation meme and got both P&V and Maude. All my Dostos are P&V and I've had no problems, but I hear Maude is a good translators for Tolstoy. Comparing the first two pages it definitely leaves me with a better first impression.

I never knew Oxfords were such nice quality. They're really adult but better than black Penguins.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
