It's likely that you don't like his writing style as opposed to the book itself being bad. I'd say give it a little more time, but you might be far enough in to call it quits.

I dunno mate, I'm not McCarthy superfan but I have read like7 his books. I like his minimalist style, but The Road just isn't a good narrative.

I'm reading Blood Meridian after being fairly nonplussed by The Road and I am enjoying it sooo much more. They're both fairly depressing but I enjoy the aggression and energy behind the violence of BM compared to the overbearing melancholy of The Road. Anyone feel similar?
