I didn't know the story and the whole time I am just waiting for them all to die. What they lived through was unbelievable, but damn, everything up to them leaving ocean camp actually sounded comfy as fuck in a strange way. The pleasure of a simply life and their group optimism.
Definitely a great work of nonfiction

I saw an Imax Shackleton documentary in a museum as a kid and was obsessed with for a while. I remember I used to play that the crew was Winnie the Pooh characters.

I still haven't read this one, but if you liked it then I guess I can recommend that you read 'In the Kingdom of Ice: The Grand and Terrible Voyage of the USS Jeannette', and in fiction Dan Simmons' The Terror.

Thanks anon. Will look into those.
I've read so much adventure/survival non-fiction, but this book is such a slog that I couldn't even get through it.
