Like 90% of the users on that site are literal pseudointellectual tryhards. The recommendation system isn't even accurate. Half the time it pushes the most shitty mainstream authors available, like James Patterson and Stephen King.

Sorry, Anon. I disabled my account long ago.

That's what the internet does to you. According to a study, extensive online use makes the brain adapt to the reality that it doesn't need to remember everything anymore, when the necessary information can be obtained through google anytime. Which is why committing less relevant information to long-term memory is becoming increasingly difficult.

I've been trying to review the non-fiction books I read but I've been lazy recently. I don't know how Hadrian does it, I wish I was smart. I don't even bother reviewing novels etc because it's too subjective and also not in my wheelhouse.

I'm always looking for obscure war memoirs and stuff like that.

"I use Goodreads for its recommendations system, and I don't think there's any point to rating books on a scale. Thus I give five stars to books if I want to continue reading works of a similar yarn, three stars to books I am indifferent towards, and one star to books I do not want to get recommendations based on.

In my written reviews I will give a short summary instead of a score"

How fucking hard can it be?

5 stars - loved it, a masterpiece.

2 stars - pretty bad, but not without some redeeming points
1 star - shit

1 = Absolutely terrible

4 stars - i enjoyed it but certain things bothered me

2 stars - it was shit
1 star - i couldn't even finish it so i'm not going to rate it so this never gets used unless someone in my book group makes me read the most interminable book ever

I am actually drinking Oettinger right now and I cant sleep, it was a strange day. I was chilling at my homy kiosk and some ugly egypt women sat next to me and sometimes later her fat turk boyfriend came around and wanted to face fuck me ONLY IN GERMANY: Later I went out to get new Oettinger and a 45 year old polish hag forced me to change number with her, but she told me she thinks I am a fat ugly fuck and wants only be friends with me, whatever, she paid for my beers and gave me cigarettes, thanks weird polish women. I know why I dont go out on weekends, Tuesday is weird enough.

It's incredible. Fantastic prose delivering fascinating information. My only complaint is that the dialogue is a little silly, but that's to be expected in a book of its sort. >that's a weird coincidence.

this year or overall?

I have to say for myself, I read a lot of short books and add them to Goddreadas because why the fuck not. Like I always wanted to read Venus in Furs by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch so I checked out the german gutenberg website and found a lot of novellas by him, so I read them and add them to goodreads, because I can. I also read a lot of genre fiction and burn through a 300 pages pulp book in 3-4 hours, so my number of books read is not really impressive.
>>
>>8715311
I hit my goal (52) really early on, so my new goal is to get it to 300%, which I should be able to do. At first the reading goal was serious and I read a mixture of long and short works, but I've been reading a lot of short works since I've finished it so the number isn't all that important anymore.
>>
>>8715311
i aimed for 50 and am at 45, but two of the books i'm currently reading are the count of monte cristo and mason & dixon so we'll see
