What do you guys do when you come across a word you don't know?
How do you expand your vocabulary?
I'm asking because I just lost my electronic dictionary, and I'm a little bummed
hey....... that's my dictioanary!!!!!
Step one is getting a good dictionary

I highlight it on my kindle and learn the definition. It sinks in if the word is useful to me. If it isn't I forget about it, lest I become a pseud.
read, and when you come across a word you dont know, look it up!

I try to get its meaning out of the context/ similarity to others words in other languages (german, french, spanisch, polish). If neither works and I'm too lazy to look it up I just write it down somewhere - and most of the time forget it.
Just read more. Either it's a important one and it will come up again in another context which will make it more clear or you will end up in a more productive mood and look it up. I wouldn't waste my time on actually "learning" it. It should stick on its own.

This
Remembering new words is a little harder when we're older, but when we see a word we're unfamiliar with enough times it's easier to remember

Read more. Look up words that you do not know. Try to develop your vocabulary naturally and in context so you actually understand words as tools rather than just memorized definitions.

why bother with dictionaries? i just pull out my phone to google it. much faster than actually flipping through page after page too look for that word if you dont live in a 3rd world country with little to no mobile coverage
