What comes after postmodernism?
Does Sam Hyde have a gf? I wonder what she's like.

Modern Revival
Post-objective dada literary literalism
Unless people start finding compelling reasons to live soon we're going to ride post-modernism to the end of humanity. Or at least a humanity that creates art.
>>8694591
Wouldn't that be wonderful, Anon?

This.
Or perhaps not. My thoughts:
A kind of raising of post Nietzschean raising of the human spirit.
Neomedievalism. Recovery of the art and thought of the Middle Ages, the way the Renaissance recovered the Ancient World.
I hope it's coming.
Jesus. He will be here any minute now. Just wait a little bit longer. Remember to tithe 10% of your earnings and confess all your darkest secrets to your priest or you will be eternally damned and suffer in eternal hellfire. Jesus loves you, peace.

Romanticism is too terrifying, not sure if I'm ready for that

Don't worry. Technological advancements, and the growing disconnect from natural beauty and the lack of mystery in modern life have all but killed most people's sense of romanticism.

The thing is that not that much was lost from the medieval era. Early modern scholars recognized the value of medieval texts as well, and there were no theological differences that would have caused people in the Renaissance to reject Medieval texts.
If you're talking about a revival of entheusiasm, that already sort of happened, in the 19th century. 19th-century romanticism was called romanticism because it drew on the medieval genre of romance, i.e. chivarlic romance

I can imagine that people will be filled with new hope after the nihilism of the 20th century with the rise of Trump/the alt-right/possible World War 3
More focus on humanity
More primitive and anti-avant-garde forms (avant-garde/experimentalism has been dead since the 60s so that's much overdue)
>>8695330
unironically memes are the only relevant form of art in the 21st century
>>8694452
We're already in post-postmodernism so the question is what comes after this.
My guess is we go back to cave paintings.

a centralist spirituality.
in the really long term. i mean, when the ideas of subjectivism that postmodernism intrinsically accept will vanish.
i think we choose some kind of absence of spirituality or historicism or conceptual culture. maybe a "foot on the ground" thing with war and violence like something natural. or some kind of natural anarchism with not theoretical basis.

The revival of new sincerity
and it is awful
First a revival of romanticism, and then a rediscovery of patristic Christianity, scholasticism etc, which will find new dynamism in our present age, then follows another golden age of mankind, and then the rapture, and then the consummation and instrumentality of all things, the rapture, and the life of the world to come.
I know this because I experienced it personally, and now I'm just waiting for others to experience it too but it takes them so long that in 60 or 70 years they don't even come close to where I was in my late teens, and then they die. But lately that's been changing.

One thing is like to see specifically in poetry is a movement away from short lyric form and a return to writing epics.
I want to read great free verse narrative epics man. It's a tradition that's been really suppressed in the 20th century.
I mean you could argue because of the novel that narrative poetry is pointless now, but fuck you.

Neo-Classicism
>>8698465
You mean neo-neo-classicism?
>>8694452
Return to reason?
It's been always that after an epoch of thought, there would come an epoch focused on feeling, on irrational. The best example would be Enlightenment, Romanticism and positivism.
But in post-modernism we got both thought and emotions, so we don't really have any idea what will come next.
But I think that there will come a rise of totalitarianism, and then a great war will come. Western society/civilization as we know it won't exist. People radicalise, both the left side and the right side, and none of them is actually right.
I'm not sure what will happen after. Maybe even the end of the world as we know it, and barbaric masses will come and destroy it all. Maybe during the great war everything will be destroyed.
Also trying to predict the future, especially the far future is pretty stupid. People in the past had many weird ideas how the life will look in 2000, and it wasn't far away.
>people not caring about their country, ideas or anything other than themselves, pleasures and they live hedonist life, cult of rich, famous people. People only want bread and circus
>Rome was build on pagan religion, but then came Christianity
>Western world is built on Christianity, atheism and islam comes
>barbaric masses
I think we're doomed. The literary tradition as it stands right now is wholly untalented. Even legends such as Pynchon are unable to produce outstanding works.
