I can't attest to Roth, but Pynchon and Dickens' stories only share thematic similarities. Child's novels have the exact same premise and story arc.

Unrelated, but if you genuinely enjoy them, be sure to pay attention to how often the phrase "that's for damn sure" is used until you realize how uninspired and repetitive Child is.
