1. They tend to deteriorate quickly compared to similar publishers (e.g. Oxford World Classics) in my experience.
2. Translation is not always the preferred one (this is especially true for philosophy).
3. Look pretty boring on the shelf (I am assuming this probably matters to you since you only mentioned the covers).
Penguin isn't terrible, just mediocre. I would only buy a Penguin Classics paperback if I couldn't find an epub or mobi of it.
