I respect that. Always wanted to play d&d but literally don't know where to start

Read the players handbook, get excited about creating a character, find a local game. Or do what I do and just read the books for inspiration. Dunno if many ppl play 3.5 anymore.

There is a starter set available for purchase that includes a campaign, dice, pre-made character sheets, and basic rulebook on Amazon. With that you can just gather up a few friends and meet regularly.
Don't have friends? Just look up whatever game store/college campus is near you and find out if they have weekly meetups.
Or, if you don't want to waste money on a starter set, just read the player's handbook to get an idea of how it plays.

I'm a passing fa/tg/uy. I come to /lit/, but am mostly here for Sci-fi and Fantasy, and generally am made sort of unwelcome. However /tg/ is a very friendly board and we'll try and help you out. Head on over to the Gamefinder Threads, though they aren't super reliable often you can find people willing to teach.
I hope you find a group to play in. If you head over to /tg/ most generals will have a link repository with downloads of rulebooks. If you feel overwhelmed feel free to ask questions, people will mostly try and help.

The 3.5 community has moved onto Pathfinder largely, as it is essentially 3.75. It doesn't solve many of the problem, but has a lot of popularity.
5e is both simply and easy to find a group for (more popular than Pathfinder).

Cool. Where are your books?

I SAID FIGHT ME.
I always wanted to play dnd but could never find anyone else that was interested, same with magic to a lesser extent. I suppose I could always just go to my local comic book store and ask around but its kinda hard when I don't know anybody and know nothing about the hobby.

But I agree 3.5 is shit.
>>8683198
I don't think you're ready to fight me, anon. I have every official 3.5 D&D book that was published, hundreds of minis, dozens of maps, and my current gaming group just celebrated 8 years of playing 3.5 ed with me as DM.

I feel you anon. I have the same problem.
