He made good points about people and society; but, rather than laugh and embrace the absurdity of life, he whined and moaned about it like a little bitch. The quantity and rate of his sake consumption was inspiring, though.

Though I probably couldn't fathom the depths of isolation/depression this guy lived in, it does seem like he had a relatively juvenile mindset, which didn't help. Otherwise, he's a great novelist with a great ability to create psychological portraits
