Hello. Can someone recommend me some good books about war in Afghanistan in 70's 80' and later?
I want to learn about how all this started, from political/soldiers point of view. What afghans say about it, russians, americans etc.

More like unacknowledged special access groups went rogue under eisenhowers watch

Cables from Kabul
^ both by ex-British ambassadors, the former about the Soviet war and the latter about the 2001 war.
The bear went over the mountain (about Soviet tactics rather than why the war happened but still interesting)
No good men among the living (very Pashtun-centric but still good and reasonably fair)
The bookseller of Kabul (Norwegian journalist lives with Afghan family post-2001 war, fairly interesting for what your average middle class Afghan family thinks to it all)
If anyone can suggest any books on Pakistan's relations with Afghanistan I'd be pretty grateful, I have descent into chaos but haven't read it yet.
