I don't have any /lit/ mentors but holy shit having mentors is great. It's really nice to have people who are much more experienced than you give you advice on what career moves to make.

That's important, sure, but I was thinking someone to guide my studies, explain concepts and discuss them with, like a tutor. Someone who helps you develop yourself within your field.

Well I am a graduate student so studying is my career. We talk about articles and they guide me in my research and put me in touch with other professors and even programs outside of academia.
If you're an undergrad you should definitely seek out a mentor. Most professors love talking about their subject to people with genuine interest rather than people trying to get better grades.

This senpai. I'm finishing up undergrad and have made many meaningful relationships with my professors. It's handy for future letters of recommendation, they can guide you if you need it, and it's fucking great to talk to really intelligent people about something you're both passionate about.
