I read it up to the second part, it was quite enjoyable. And it was enjoyable precisely because it is not exhaustive.

Exactly this. If you've spent a lot of time with Plato/Aristotle it will be valuable to revisit the presocratics with more rigor, but frankly I'd be surprised if anyone reading them for the first time (and doing so before reading any other Greek philosophy) gained more than the vaguest ideas about the consequences of what they wrote.

doing the same and am learning a lot in the process. You'll leave the Greeks with a much stronger foundation for everything that follows.
