Is this legitimately a good book despite it being a meme?
decide for yourself
>>8655184
How'd it get so high on the poll then?
>>8655203
There are many people and some times in some ways they are different
>>8655203
>despite it being a meme
>>8655183
I would say its a better book than about 95% of people that would critique it in anyway, could write if they had 10 or many more lifetimes
>>8655229
You could say that about Twilight to be quite honest with you family.
>>8655229
this
It's damn sure better than anything pynchon eve wrote. (I've read every pynchon novel)
It's pretty good. Not worth reading though
>>8655266
Pynchon is utter shit. Ulysses is the only good novel of the meme trilogy
>>8655266
I don't know; I'm almost done with V. and I'm finding it astronomically better than that hackneyed, uninspired shitstack of papers DFW made.
>>8655308
You just don't get it mannnn
>>8655183
It hits its mark for a lot of people, and for many others it fails. Why don't you read it and see if you belong to the former or latter group?
>>8655308
V is astoundingly boring. Only a few sections were worth reading
>>8655287
This.
>>8655395
>is astoundingly boring. Only a few sections were worth reading
most people think great literature is boring so you critique doesnt help much, unless... youre not like most people
>>8655482
I've read Brothers Karamazov, Anna Karenina, Ulysses, etc. V was just boring
>>8655249
no, you couldn't
It's a completely new, even genius way of sucking at literature.
>>8655511
Nice digits.
>>8655287
>being this wrong
yes, IJ being bad is a memeit's also not perfect, so shitposters run with that to say it's shit
I mean damn guys so many books transcend the good/bad dichotomy
>>8655183
just fucking read it already
>>8655183
honestly, once you start reading it and just get into it you forget a lot of bullshit your image changes towards what it really is, and that's that Infinite Jest is a really well written book that's also entertaining.
There's a lot of backlash from how over hyped it was -even before it was published- but really it's worth a read.
>>8655229
>I would say its a better book than about 95% of people that would critique it in anyway, could write if they had 10 or many more lifetimes
This argument is the most retarded shit ever. It has a b s o l u t e l y nothing to do with the criticism of a book.
^
>>8655183
i would argue infinite jest is the greatest book ever written. in my honest opinion fampai
>>8655183
yes
its a decent peice of literature
tenable memes are founded on truth
>>8655183
>Is this legitimately a good book despite it being a meme?
It is legitimately good if you're in your teens/early 20s. Past that you can skip it without any loss.
