And is fine. I don't even mind when people use coordinating conjunctions at the beginning of sentences if they do it tastefully. His use of it 4 times in the same sentence which added nothing stylistically is horrible.

The he was highlighted incidentally, I have no problem with his use of pronouns. What is redundant are his intrusions into his already long-ass colorless sentence with detail that serves nothing but to provide the blandest of characterization.
