What does /lit/ think about this book?
Just bought for under a dollar.

I had Great Expectations about it
>>8650131
I don't have Great Expectations about it, personally.
>>8650131
2nd part is sort of a slog. Interestingly written though.
>>8650184
>interesting written
What kind of "interesting"?
>>8650234
i mean the vocabulary and pharsings and such - it's 19th century english lit after all
>>8650246
Well I'm fine with it. What book can be compared to this one?
>>8650131
I haven't read it but I have medium expectations for this book
>>8650279
any other 19th century english classic
>>8650288
But it's not walter-scottish writing style like?
It's suprisingly hilarious.

>this can also be said desu
If you're not laughing at the scene near the beginning where Pip is caught by his mother bolting his dinner then the book is not for you.

I just finished reading this. It's pretty dank. Note how pip's narration changes as he ages. The entire book is a retrospective, but as the reader you get to grow up with him and see his worldview change.
Also, there are two endings for the book: original ending and edited ending. Dickens only changed a sentence or so but people get really butthurt if you admit to liking the edited version. Kinda like the ending to Crime and Punishment in that respect...
Not as good as ATOTC, still really good
>>8650553
>Crime and Punishment different endings
What? C&P does'nt have different endings. What do you mean by that?
>>8650568
>ATOTC
>good
Pick one.

Enjoyed it thoroughly when I read it 5-6 years ago. Hoping to read it again in a few years. I think I will appreciate the novel much more.
