Why is true literature ™ so tiring and not funny?

The Bible is much funnier than any of us realize; but even if we could see the joke, we would be in no position to enjoy it while we are still struggling between heaven and damnation.

Reading Genesis now. Why are all the Hebrews such cucks? When Abraham tells his wife to pretend to be his sister so dudes won't try to kill him so they can fuck his wife. But then after they find out that she's his wife, they're like, dude wtf. then he fucking does that shit again. Then his son does that shit. It's pretty embarrassing.
