>Why is YA bullshit so prominent these days?

Because people like you are emotionally invested in it

I don't understand why people can't read YA. The sole purpose of reading is for entertainment and enjoyment. Not everyone wishes to read your meme tier book lists.

Why not watch television, then? The writing's on about the same level, and you don't even have to move your hands.

I'll read YA books occasionally for the same reason I'll watch Transformers occasionally. If you only watch Tarkovsky you'll probably be overwhelmed and craving some dumb, fun, easy pulp-tier crap afterwards. Apply that to books.

>comparing books to television
What? The two are vastly different.
Young Adult are books for actual children, like scholastic magazine, comic books, or my little pony. It's fat retards with access to mommy's credit card that push it into wider popular culture.
Editorial authority does not exist anymore, it's all about money.

That's the thing, YA and other low-quality literature that try to pander to large demographics are just a little bit better than an outright screenplay, which is understandable, they want to sell the movie rights, but it also means there is nothing that makes these 'books' worthwhile.

I agree with every single word senpai.
