I think it was pretty well implied and discussed anyway though, especially re: Bazarov's death.

Bazarov wasn't that bright, i gathered that much, i'd paint him as one of the biggest pseuds in the novel as much as he would have liked to appear otherwise.
By the way i'd read A Sportsman's Sketches over this any day, I think it's one of the most important russian works from a literature and historical standpoint at documenting the russian genteel and peasants. It's extremely impressive and beautiful.
