Who made you the decider on that?

the new york review of books puts some good stuff out
O' Mara, White Books
Everyman's library looks pretty neat. Apart from printing my Ulysses upside down...

Must have been the Australian edition.
Dalkey, modern library, oxford, knopf, Princeton, Harvard
Special shoutout to penguin for being there for everything.
Of all time: Virago
Currently: Persephone

not him but don't you think that photo is tacky?
>>8624672
>Persephone
that publisher specializes in ancient chick lits, right? lol
>>8624452
They have some tacky designs and some very nice ones, it depends on the book.
>>8624452
Their children's lit seems nice desu.
>>8624452
it's like criterion, you have to take it on a book by book basis (except criterion are much better imo)
>>8625001
criterion remasters old movies no one else cares about and adds extra material to their releases. folio puts a fancy cover and gives it a $100 prize. it's pretty different imo.
>>8624530
If you're going to spend real money on books, get the oldest, handsomest editions you can afford in good quality. Modern reprints are a vulgarity.
>>8624680
it's not chick lit, butthead

Kek
>>8625013
true. criterion is doing a service but folio is just overcharging for books that should be free
>>8625015
not him but
>it's not chick lit
>>8625079
hey now i didn't say anything about free
>>8625080
so?

Two, not one:
Penguin, if it's my first time reading a certain book, since I tend to fuck up the covers and pages as I naturally progress.
Everyman's Library, should I care enough to want a premium edition of a book that I have already read, to use as "decoration."
check dubs
>>8625014
I wouldn't get old editions of anything for my children. If they're going to accidentally destroy something, I'd rather it be something I could re-buy.
>>8625013
Folio commissions new illustrations for their books. That isn't really cheap to do, especially considering the renown of a lot of their illustrators.
What are the best clothbound books to buy. Some guy in another thread showed these basic, but very pretty, clothbound books. But I can't seem to find the old thread.
