Thoughts on JK Rowling, the writer of the Harry Potter series?
>>8618900
She can't write for shit. Would be more productive on her knees desu.
>>8618900
She's got the right idea

Is there a JK Rowling who isn't?

Thanks for telling me who fucking JK Rowling is
Better than Bob Dylan I suppose
Solid 6/10 which is 5 more points than I'd give her writing
>>8618981
Idk dude those titties are banging. Solid 7 at least, which is 6 more points than I'd give.her writing
>>8618900
Can't write.
>Harry didn't end up with Hermione
>>8618901
that commentary is sexist and inappropriate
>>8618989
That's a man
>>8618995
Because Ron is a decent guy, desu. Why does everyone hate him?
>>8618995
>I like the 'good guy gets the girl' trope in my literature.
He gets to bury his face in Ginny's awesome firebush instead of Hermione's pleb tier, run of the mill, brown bush, I think he got the best in that situation.

Stop posting trannies on blue boards. My kids come here, and I don't want them thinking this shit is normal.

HEY OP'S KIDS! THAT SHIT'S NORMAL!

>Ron had no attractive qualities.
Try harder.
>>8618900
Thanks for clearing that up, at first I thought you meant the JK Rowling who is the founder of SpaceX and Tesla.
...but what's "Harry Potter"?

list them

>Loyalty.
>Looks at least equal to book Hermione.
>Dedication.
>Kind
>Helpful.
Don't forget book Hermione was not good looking, had terrible social skills, and was borderline autistic in the first few books. Don't let Emma Watson trick you into thinking book Hermione was grade A pussy. This whole argument is somewhat moot though considering JK herself said she probably wouldn't put Ron and Hermione together in the end if she were to write it again and apparently did so because of something that was going on in her life at the time.
>>8619405
>Loyalty
>Dedication
>Kind [dubous - discuss]
>Helpful
Not a vagina was left unwet after reading those words.
>>8619415
Ok let me translate for your IQ
>Loyalty
Will do what she wants.
>Dedication
Will keep doing it for a long time.
>Kind
Gives her things she wants.
>Helpful.
Much the same as above but to more people.
I get that you are drowning in teen pussy but intelligent adult women often select partners on criteria other then being Chad Thundercock and this doesn't even go into their shared experiences and bond. Book Ron and book Hermione were pretty evenly matched and it was only the film actors who are throwing your perception off.
>>8619575
>Book Ron and book Hermione were pretty evenly matched
She went out with the wizard world's biggest sports star.
>>8618900
She disgraced herself selling her characters and world to leech off some money from the new book.

I bet she's a screamer.

Fucking terrible for literature. Her books completely reinforced the narcissism of the modern age, with the whole "chosen one" main character, who everything "just happens" to happen to for no reason other than that he's the main character.

I'd read all of the Harry Potter books if she arranged a 3 hour handjob session with me.

Isn't that just the heroes journey formula? Storytelling has the tradition of wish fulfillment and narcissism. You could argue that is its exact purpose.
Her ideas aren't well thought out. The Wizarding World has an eclectic collection of ideas that are merely window dressing and no world logic for explaining how and why they come about. Its a poorly designed world her characters inhabit. But I have a solution...
A detective series starring Neville and Luna Lovegood. Deatheaters would still be around even after Voldemort got killed off,and the power vacuum would take bloodshed to fill. So you have Neville trying to deal with his own demons while tracking down a cure for his parents cursing through helping unravel mysteries in the Wizarding World, and Luna can be his gadgeteer experimenting and explaining the nuts and bolts functionality of Magic in the course of solving these crimes. Two ways to define the world from two important angles.
I'd watch that show,wouldn't you?

You already failed as a parent.

This is a fucking tvtropes tier post, fuck off plebbit

Thats because noone would read about Plebby Stinkpickles years on Warthogs and how he always hot Cs in potion brewing and who vaguely heard some storys about some kids in the same school who once fought a troll or something.

Ever since she recast Hermione as black, said Dumbledore was gay, and started pandering to her /pol/ audience.
Before that, I considered her a solid children's writer with a lot of creativity.

Well I tried to give it a read. The problem is that there is no style to the writing. It's just
This happens.
Then this happens. Then this.
She describes imaginative things in the most unimaginative way. Is that what she was going for though? To make a dry descriptions of magical things, to make it seem more real? Maybe Harold Bloom or whatever had it wrong and didn't understand what she was going for?

What's happening is part of a phenomenon I wrote about a couple of years ago when I was asked to comment on Rowling. I went to the Yale University bookstore and bought and read a copy of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." I suffered a great deal in the process. The writing was dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs." I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing.
But when I wrote that in a newspaper, I was denounced. I was told that children would now read only J.K. Rowling, and I was asked whether that wasn't, after all, better than reading nothing at all? If Rowling was what it took to make them pick up a book, wasn't that a good thing?
It is not. "Harry Potter" will not lead our children on to Kipling's "Just So Stories" or his "Jungle Book." It will not lead them to Thurber's "Thirteen Clocks" or Kenneth Grahame's "Wind in the Willows" or Lewis Carroll's "Alice."
Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
Our society and our literature and our culture are being dumbed down, and the causes are very complex. I'm 73 years old. In a lifetime of teaching English, I've seen the study of literature debased. There's very little authentic study of the humanities remaining. My research assistant came to me two years ago saying she'd been in a seminar in which the teacher spent two hours saying that Walt Whitman was a racist. This isn't even good nonsense. It's insufferable.
>>8628708
Even if that's what she's going for she failed because people like the magical world a lot. From seeing the movies it's clear Hogwarts is meant to be a place of wonder, not somewhere where magic is so common that no one, even the audience, is supposed to care.
