Does there exist a more based author than George Orwell?
He sure as hell wasn't libertarian. That is for sure.

traitor scum
over rated novels
read his non-fiction
Orwell was a liberal, nothing else. He still beats Ay Lmao by far but he wasn't a communist.
"Left-libertarian" is an oxymoron.

>Orwell was a liberal
Jesus, shut the fuck up.
He described himself as a "Tory Anarchist" and his ideas on "common decency" go against everything promoted by liberalism.
>>8607994
Yes, there are many.
He's still pretty great, but does get a lot of flak, mostly for having an insufferable fanbase - much like Thompson and to some extent Vonnegut. Homage to Catalonia and Down and Out in Paris and London are really, really great, and I think in terms of pure aesthetics, Animal Farm and 1984 pale in comparison. His legacy from these latter works are undeniably monumental though, to the point that many of his inventions of thought have become part of the memes of the general public.
Comparing Orwell to Shakespeare is still ridiculous.

>What is the distinction between positive and negative freedom
>>8608040
The word libertarian was coined in reference to socialism.
>>8607994
It looks like flan flan is more based
>>8608106
This. "Libertarians" (propertarians) are so fucking moronic that they don't realize that they're literally referring to themselves by the name of their mortal enemy.

I enjoyed Burmese Days a lot, wondering if anyone else did

leftists are irrational authoritarians, just look at your average SJW. it's clear their utopia would not tolerate real dissent, property or anything ressembling freedom as we know it. I'm a voluntaryist, I believe in freedom of association and freedom of contract. What if i don't want to pick vegetables at the gender neutral farm co-op?

>Unleash the cops to clear the streets of bums and vagrants
Wow! Such a libertarian philosophy to advocate physical removal. So anarchist to be a cop bootlicker.

Orwell was a socialist.
>>8609138
Yeah, that's why he's libertarian left.
>>8609036
Urgh, I know most people usually just laugh at libertarians but it's really depressing people actually believe this shit, it's just so fucking illogical
>>8609076
I'm not even just using the "hurr kiddies xD" argument, but it's painfully obviously you're really young

Anarcho-statism is best anarchism.

Neo-feudalism is the best description IMO

At least he's anti-spanking, which is one thing I absolutely agree with him on.
Pic related is absolutely relevant, though.

Good thinker. Shitty writer.
>>8609339
Homage to Catalonia is god-tier though, Anon.
>>8609339
saying Orwell's prose is bad is just contrarian desu
>>8608040
Not as oxymoronic, or mornic for that matter as "anarcho-capitalism." Happy to have a boot on your neck as long as it's not a government boot, eh?
Orwell pointed out a number of problems
What solutions did he come up with?

>He was libertarian, but definitely not anarchist.
He literally fought alongside the anarchists in the Spanish Civil War.
>>8610905
He fought in the POUM which was a marxist group; although he did say in Homage to Catalonia, that he thought the anarchists were right.
He was a conservative socialist. What /pol/ should aspire to instead of the nat-soc nonsense.

Actually it's just that /I'm-oh-so-Rand-oh/ amerifats co-opted anarchism/libertarianism as the dominant ideological basis for "free-trade" capitalist-monopoly enslavement of everybody to the new aristocracy that the terms are now radically different.
Orwell most certainly was what you would be called libertarian-communist against the Nationalist/state-capitalist-Communism of Stalin/Hitler/Mussolini/Franco and the Amerifat-led "socialist-democratic" coalition.
The Spanish war and other events in 1936-37 turned the scale and thereafter I knew where I stood. Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism, as I understand it.

Sorry to get all /lit/ and actually quote the writer, i'll let you return to your regularly scheduled /pol/ thread.
