Otherwise it's an OK book that ruffled a few jimmies back in the 50s on subjects that nobody gives a flying fuck about today, yet is still banned in a few libraries just because.

I remember my art teacher reading this and raging over how frustrating he was and I got really pissed off because she was a teacher and she had no understanding of or empathy for troubled young people.

Salinger's good, a lot of people will want to tell you that his books are just edgy bullshit, but Salinger writes dialogue better than any other and is at least as competent as Fitzgerald. Check out Franny and Zooey and Nine Stories for god-tier Salinger, though

Pretty good, but not as amazing as everyone makes it out to be. Decent entry level book that people dislike because they cant see past the "edgy" mc. Also, the Pheobe rape thing is a stupid meme with no poor justification
